Peggie Blizard

Pink Peonies 24"x30" oil/panel

To discover the sources of Peggie Blizard’s floral paintings, one must journey through time to her ancestral home near the Rhine; to a sun-splashed garden nestled behind a gabled brick dwelling. Come forward to the 1700’s and include the rich textures and exquisite detail of the Spanish still life masters; then throw in the formal clarity of early Corot. Finally, add the contemporary penchant for exuberant color, and you have paintings of exceptional beauty. But Peggie Blizard’s paintings go beyond the beautiful; they are strong statements in terms of space and form. The attention paid to the formal aspects and detail in each painting impart a timelessness to the work which relates it to the great tradition of the floral paintings of the past.
